Contemporary Swedish artist Thomas Broomé harnesses the power of calligrams to create drawings and sculptures where text is changed into form, while form is broken down into text. Inspired by the concept of ‘home’ and objects from the Hermès home universe, Broomé’s poetic installation at Hermès Liat Towers, Singapore invites viewers to bask in the warmth and ingenuity of an apartment constructed entirely out of words that draw, shape and describe in maniacal detail each object in the window. Using 3D printed technology, exquisite three-dimensional text is transformed into key furniture pieces from Hermès. Beyond a mere play on words, ModernMantra (Hermès Home) exists on the borders of our agreement of what is real. ModernMantra (Hermès Home) will be on display until 7 December, 2016.
