Home Accessories Special

If “less is more” has never worked for you, by all means go for more. This said, it’s important to learn how to make your favourite decorating accessories work without visually overcrowding your spaces. Here are some great ideas to get you inspired.

Strong Statements

For this home, a dark and sultry palette is used as the backdrop to put together a harmony of vintage chic decorating accessories. In the living room, the composition is kept symmetrical, anchored by whimsical objects and a variety of textures. The bedroom takes on the same cosy approach but in the kitchen and dining, the designers have gone for a more solid appeal with industrial-inspired items.

  • Keep to a look that is simple and clean with a focus on function.
  • You can also lean towards a more masculine look to embody an industrial chic appearance.

Elegant Overtures

Two key colours – white and olive-gold take the lead in this contemporary classic interior. Throughout the home, white offers the perfect canvas for the designer to paint the spaces with a touch of classic glam using a myriad of elegant accessories. In the living room, classic furniture against sleek marble flooring work well together while in the family room, wood flooring creates a warmer look. For the bedroom, a touch of silver is used instead, accompanied by just the right amount of decorating objects.

  • If you are going for a classic elegant look, aim for fine ornate designs, but make sure they are not flashy or over-the-top.
  • Always maintain a calm and neutral palette so accessories and details do not overwhelm the space.

Artistic Impression

This modern oriental interior features well-placed decorating accessories and focal pieces. Paintings are included strategically to lead the eyes to different areas. What stands out the most is the way furniture pieces are also part of the home’s decorating approach. For example, the coffee table with mirror surfaces, the dining chairs with red frames and the chrome stools stools offer different functional purposes other than just aesthetic value.

  • If you like decorating with art, pay attention to the forms and colours on the painting and use them to infuse accent colours to your rooms.
  • It’s also a good idea to combine multiple works of art by the same artist or those with very similar styles to create a greater impact
