id Tips: 6 Dining Room Themes You Should Follow

Are you a person who eats to live, or lives to eat? Whether you belong to the former or latter category, I’m sure you’ll agree that the ambiance somehow affects your enjoyment of food. Decorate your dining room in a way that is inviting for family and friends to meet, gather and share meals. Check out these easy-to-follow dining room themes to get started!

For a formal dining room, give it a civilized and classic touch. You may add grace to the traditional dining room with symmetry, for instance place two chairs on either side with a pair of art prints. Look for mirrors with wide gilt frames, lacquered finishes on furniture or accessories, polished veneers, sparkling crystal stemware and chandeliers. As for the furniture, choose from different pieces of the same wood and style.

Involve a variety of fresh farm colours that even Taylor Swift will approve. The key here is to be hands-on and welcoming. Choose furniture and materials that invite use. If they look well-loved, they will add the informal element you crave. Have yourself a little wicker, rattan, pine and cast iron instead of the usual glossy wood or sleek glass. Consider six vintage one-of-a-kind chairs with similar shapes and sizes and dress them with slipcovers in textured fabrics and floor-length cotton tablecloths.

Fun and contemporary

For an elegant and refined contemporary dining room, choose something fabulous as a focal point of the room – perhaps seize an over-sized vintage print with a simple frame. For finishing touches, go for the gleam, but not the gilt. Furniture and accessories that are simple yet expressive will bring out the fun in contemporary; do consider having spot lights on art work or sculptures for a drama effect. The lines of your furniture should be simple and clean as well in order to fully deliver the contemporary theme.

Your eclectic dining room is defined by what you love. You will be able to relate your dining room pieces by colour, size, texture, or materials. For lighting, have flexible ones that can accommodate anything from homework on the table to a Middle Eastern feast. Arrange sets of vintage pressed oak chairs or a set of zippy deco-style bar stools to get the mood going.

If you’re aiming for the casual style, opt for understated design elements like blue tile flooring, red-striped linens and industrial lighting. For a low-maintenance seasonal change, rotate the seat covers for a fresh look throughout the year. Fingers crossed, nobody will notice.

Sometimes simplicity makes the cut. When in doubt, always go back to basics. Have clean walls, airy window treatments, and a whitewashed farmhouse-style table for a bright and clean look. Keep the whole look grounded with a set of rustic, woven chairs.
